4 Places To Vacation In Nigeria For Less Than 100,000 Naira

You’re welcome!

Does your chest tighten every now and then in just a week? Do you think about getting some fresh air at least thrice every month or even been feeling claustrophobic lately? Our diagnosis is that it’s because you live in Lagos, and haven’t been able to take a vacation for too long.

Between now and the holidays is enough time to plan for a vacation for yourself, and even plan it within a budget. To make it even juicier, we have come up with 4 places in Nigeria(in no particular order) that we think you’ll enjoy with just NGN100,000 in your pocket.

1. Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort, Ekiti

Not only is this a chance to get away from the energy of Lagos, but it is also to see something rather mysterious about the warm spring, which is the fact that flowing side by side the warm spring, is another spring, a cold one! Experts say it is a geological wonder to have such occurrence out of the same rock formation and it is said to be the only one of its kind discovered anywhere in the world. The meeting point of the warm and cold springs is a unique attraction to tourists.

And to add to the comfort, visitors and tourists can lodge at a well-landscaped resort, located around the warm spring. You can go ahead and save up to NGN80,000 for this trip for a full weekend of “henjoyment”.

2. Whispering Palms, Badagry

I know a lot of us have visited this place before, but my guess is that this was way back in secondary school. You cannot overlook this place in 2017 because it is just too stunning to miss out on. With NGN60,000 for a weekend, you can see it’s beautiful green scenery that enhances the aesthetic feel of the resort, hang out at the waterfront, visit the museum and other Nigeria firsts, and even revisit the slave trade sites and do some reflection.

3. IITA, Ibadan

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture(IITA) has offices all over Africa and their headquarters in Nigeria, is in Ibadan. The institute conducts scientific research on improving food production in Africa. It is a diplomatic environment and they do not allow just anyone into the premises. The most promising way to take advantage of its scenery is to lodge as a guest in it guest house called the International House.

The IITA isn’t just another research institute, it is also a not-so popular destination for visitors, mainly because people don’t know what exists inside. With roughly NGN60,000 including transport, you can spend a full weekend there where you can swim, sleep-in, hike, rent a bike, listen to a man who plays the piano on Friday nights, golf or just relax in the beautiful expanse of natural ambiance.

4. Olumo Rock

This is another place that I’m pretty sure a lot of us have been to from back in Secondary School. Well, not much has changed, but the new you, will appreciate the thrill way more than the younger you did.

To make life even easier, you can enlist the service of a tour guide to give you the history of the Rock & culture of the people. Accommodation is mostly inexpensive, so you should budget around NGN30,000 for a full weekend to include hiking, feeding, lodging and sightseeing.

Do yourself a favour this year because you deserve it and you should go for it. You should definitely start saving for some “you time” in December or January, today.

And if you have any more suggestions for others, especially places you’ve been to, please leave a reply, we’d like to make this list longer. Thanks!

Happy vacationing!
